Pioneer Village Dispute ~ Managing Public Emergencies

Monday, January 6 – The State Fair is feeling the squeeze, and to expand it has its eye on Pioneer Village, which is run by the Ward County Historical Society. But the society doesn’t want to lose the buildings in question, and the matter appears headed to court. We visit with Bruce Brooks, treasurer of the WCHS. ~~~ Cass County emergency manager Dave Rogness discusses the disaster planning and the organizational work that helps prepare responders for events like last week’s derailment. ~~~ 99% Invisible presents a piece on safely shipping cargo during another era. Producer Roman Mars presents “A Cheer for Samuel Plimsoll.” ~~~ Bruce Berg commentary: “The Christmas Pile.”
