Reading Rockets: Launching Young Readers
This ten part series explores the stages children go through to
develop reading skills from preschool to third grade, incorporating
the latest research and featuring the country's top reading experts,
along with celebrity hosts and prominent children's book authors.

Bridges Project
Utilizing a variety of resources, the Bridges Project develops
new training programs and resources to help teachers and parents
of K-4th grade children more effectively use technology to improve
children's reading and writing. The project encourages teacher training,
culminating in a school Family Literacy Night and theme-based Family
Take-Home Kits and backpacks loaned to families participating in
the project, each containing a CD-ROM, Reading Rainbow
and A Bridge to Reading video, a book and activity sheet.
A comprehensive web site of multimedia resources includes an online
teacher course to effectively integrate technology into reading
instruction and parent education. All reading teachers are encouraged

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Literacy Exchange
Prairie Public airs the RIF video programs periodically on the
Prairie School Television schedule. Designed to provide educators,
librarians, and parents information on the developments and trends
in children's literacy, each program profiles exemplary literacy
programs, offers practical tips and strategies for educators and
parents with examples of reading aloud and storytelling and highlights
great books to share with children.[more]

Share A Story
This project focuses on reading aloud to children, particularly
those too young to read or the "emerging readers" who are just beginning
to develop reading skills. Through Share A Story, every adult is
encouraged to become a "designated reader" for a child in their
life son or daughter, grandchild, neighbor, friend

viewers on adventures that help stimulate an interest in reading
