About the Courses —

PBS TeacherLine courses are facilitated, interactive, online professional development learning experiences. Developed by leading educational producers in alignment with national standards, the courses offer a supportive learning community and exemplary professional resources. Courses are offered both” locally”, through Prairie Public, and “nationally” through PBS. Courses offered locally by Prairie Public enroll educators from North Dakota and Minnesota, while those offered nationally by PBS enroll educators from across the nation, including those from North Dakota and Minnesota. The course content is the same for both providers, however the courses offered by Prairie Public feature a regional facilitator and allow for a more regional emphasis. Local courses are listed on Prairie Public’s course offerings page and local and national courses are listed in PBS TeacherLine’s Course Catalog. In the Course Catalog, courses are identified as a “National” or “Local” section to the right of the section number.

You can pay for local and national courses online through the PBS TeacherLine Web site. If your district is paying for the course or you prefer to pay with a check, please contact Prairie Public Education Services through e-mail or call - (701) 239-7574.

Take a Tour of Online Learning!

You must create a PBS TeacherLine account prior to taking a course. If you are already a registered user, you’ll notice that “usernames” as login IDs have been eliminated. You can now log into the site using your primary e-mail address and the same password that you previously used to access PBS TeacherLine. If you have never registered for a PBS TeacherLine account, now is a great time to create your free account and access the professional development resources that are available.

Teachers enrolling in a course should be familiar with taking an online course. If you are not, you should complete the free PBS Practice Learning Online with TeacherLine orientation course prior to the start of the class. This will automatically appear as one of your courses after you have created an account.

How can PBS TeacherLine courses enhance professional development in my district?

  • A district or school can purchase seats for their individual teachers, allowing for individual professional development needs.
  • A district or school can enroll a cohort of its educators in a private course that meets the school’s strategic objectives. These courses can be customized to meet the needs of your school and may be ordered and started at any time.
  • A district or REA can license a course to run on their own course management system such as Blackboard, WebCT, D2L, or Moodle. When you license a PBS TeacherLine course, you’re getting a total solution that includes powerful course content with all usage permissions in place, strategic course design, and workloads and assignments that have been pre-tested and perfected by educators across the country, allowing you to deliver quality staff development within tight budget constraints.

PBS TeacherLine ensures quality with research-based content and methodologies, helps districts meet NCLB requirements, offers flexibility and savings, provides a structured format for learning, and helps educators meet their professional development goals.
