Delve into the full array of assessment and evaluation tools, including rubrics, journals, formal and informal assessments, and portfolios. Then, create an effective rubric based on an existing student assignment.Classroom Link - Access to students recommended. PBS Classroom Link courses ask learners to implement lessons with their class or with a small group of students (options for learners without access to students are available).

Make mathematics “real” for your young students with a fresh look at problem solving, calculators, and the Internet in the classroom. Review the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Calculator-Usage and Problem-Solving Standards for a framework to design lesson plans, address content, and meet state standards. Then, develop a “walking field trip” through tasks found in students’ daily lives.Classroom Link - Access to students recommended. PBS Classroom Link courses ask learners to implement lessons with their class or with a small group of students (options for learners without access to students are available).

This course has been approved for North Dakota Title I math credential renewal when taken for graduate credit through NDSU, Adams State College, or Indiana University.

Optional Credit Opportunities:Two professional development graduate credits (EDUC 600) are available through North Dakota State University for $100. ($50 per credit.) In order to apply for NDSU graduate credit, complete and submit the Professional Development Credit Registration Form. NDSU will accept payment for graduate credit in the form of check, money order, or credit card by phone. Directions for payment are at the bottom of the Professional Development Credit Registration Form. The EDUC 600 registration form can also be found here to print, complete, and send in the mail. The total cost for the Using Assessment and Evaluation course will be $175 for individuals earning NDSU professional development graduate credit. Teacher Training Institute:

Are you passionate about teaching?  Do you support integrating the arts, history, and culture in the classroom?  Do you use technology in your classroom?  If so, apply for a Master Teacher position!

Prairie Public will host a Teacher Training Institute (TTI) in June of 2010 on integrating local arts, culture, and history into cross-curricular areas, while utilizing video and technology. This will be an intensive training, tailored for educators in the prairie region and will be lead by veteran teachers who will be trained to become Master Teachers.
