Happy & Healthy

A workshop designed to address the issues related to childhood health. The target audience is parents, caregivers, and early education professionals of children infant to age 8. Possible topics we will discuss: Helping children to feel comfortable with going to the doctor, encouraging healthy eating habits, exercise and nutrition, as well as developing important daily habits.

From “Between the Lions”

This workshop helps parents and caregivers encourage young children to read and develop a love for books. The target audience is parents, caregivers, and early education professionals of children preschool to age 7. Possible topics we will discuss: Literacy development—listening, speaking, music, reading, writing; explanation of “Between the Lions” series as a teaching and learning tool; Web resources; and activities that you can use with children!

What Do You Do with the Mad that You Feel?
(from Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood)

This workshop discusses ways to help children manage their anger and learn patterns of self-control. The target audience is parents, caregivers and early education professionals of children preschool to age 8. Topics we will discuss: understanding children and their anger; how parents deal with their own angry feelings; developmental stages and appropriate activities for dealing with anger; how and when to intervene when children have lost control; scenarios. Who’s the Boss? Parent vs. Child Conflicts

This workshop focuses on building a healthy cooperative relationship between parent and child. Achieving positive communication, setting boundaries, and making rules that work will help you to avoid parent/child power struggles. The target audience is parents of children preschool to age 8. Other topics we will discuss: what is a conflict; how children think differently from adults; expectations, rules and guidelines, consequences; communication: speaking, active listening, negotiation; what does ‘no’ mean?; choices; setting and enforcing rules; consistency; scenarios and strategy sharing.
