The Benefits of Membership
Instructional Resources Overview
Prairie Public's Instructional Resources provides supplementary classroom video and other educational resources to encourage the use of technology as a teaching tool in the classrooms. Instructional Resources is a membership based program service brought to prairie education agencies through a partnership between public television and the North Central Council for School Television.
Your school's membership in Instructional Resources (all North Dakota schools are members) entitles you to:
- Recording rights on both daytime and block feed broadcasts, use of
the lending library, and rights to request programs to be dubbed. Area
teachers help choose programming which fit local school curriculum.
- The Education e-Newsletter which includes
updates on programs, taping rights and other multimedia resources of
importance to educators.
- The Instructional Resources Web site giving descriptions for all programs, including grade level and curricula
matrices, teacher's guides and student activity online resources and
broadcast schedules to make finding the right video and correlating
resources an easy process.
- The Lending Library of all the Instructional Resources classroom
and professional development videos.
- Teacher's guides, many of which are available on the Web or at a
small cost to school members.
- Teacher's guides for some of the prime time and general PBS programs
are also available.
- Access to workshops and teleconferences at reduced fees throughout
the school year.
Instructional Resources
programs air on Prairie Public school
days, September through May, on a weekly schedule from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and a block feed from 5:30 to 6:30 PM and an overnight block
feed. The programs can be used directly off-air or recorded for use at
a more convenient time and can be kept from year to year as long as the
school retains its membership. Videos or DVD's are also available through the lending
library or dubbing service.
No Need to Erase: Teachers have rights to Instructional Resources
video series from year to year as long as the school continues its membership
and Instructional Resources retains the rights to the series.
North Central Council for School Television Membership
Membership in the North Central Council for School Television is $2.32
per student and is renewable each school year. In an arrangement with
the State of North Dakota and the Department of Public Instruction, all
North Dakota schools are members.
