Connect with English
The
foreign-born U. S. population is reaching levels not seen since
the return of the century. They and their teachers are in need of
materials to help them acquire English.
In this series of programs, Connect with English tells the story
of, a young working woman who leaves her family to pursue her dream
of a music career. Through her story, students get to learn the
English they need for every conceivable contexttravel, medical,
financial, familial, educationalwhich new immigrants face
as they remake their lives in an English-speaking culture.
The
series is funny, moving and dramatic, but never patronizing. It
is both a great language course and great television.
