When
Catherine the Great of Russia offered land to German farmers longing
for farms of their own, they never dreamed they would have to resettle
half a world away before their dreams would come true. This enthralling
documentary chronicles the history of one of the most important
ethnic groups on the prairie. Produced by Prairie Public Television
and the North Dakota State University Libraries, this documentary
follows the migration of German people to Russia and then to the
United States. The documentary was filmed in Ukraine, Russia, Germany,
the Alsace region of France, California, Nebraska, South Dakota,
and North Dakota. (Instructional Resources does not have duplication rights to this
