Episode Descriptions
1
What was Ancient Egypt Like?
This
program contains four segments presenting a brief history of ancient
Egypt, an Egyptian creation myth, an explanation of Egyptian attitudes
toward death, and the myth of Osiris.
2 Why were the Pyramids Built?
This
program first takes an animated look at the myth of Osiris and the
construction of Khufu's pyramid complex. The program then discusses
the Great Pyramid of Giza paying special attention to the importance
of the pyramid's shape, the actual size of the Great Pyramid of
Giza, and the 20 years of construction.
3 How were the Pyramids Built?
This
final program begins with a refrain of Dedi's prophecy of Khufu
and shows the completion of his pyramid. The next segment is animated
and speculates on why so little evidence of Khufu's reign exists
in contrast to King Tutankhamen. The students will then see a sampling
of Egyptian artifacts including the Rosetta Stone.
