Keeping Young Bodies Healthy |
Good nutrition, physical activity, and other healthy behaviors are important concepts to promote and model for young children. From day one, parents begin to create future health habits and patterns through their daily routine. And, as a teacher or caregiver, you create an environment and set a schedule that models what is expected for that child. This workshop uses free online media and activities from a variety of sources aimed at promoting healthy routines with young children. Lions and Literacy |
Literacy, the ability to effectively read and write, is a skill that we normally associate with school. But the foundation of literacy begins much earlier as children listen to stories and conversations; as they talk and ask questions; as they watch adults read and write; as they examine the letters and symbols in the print all around them; as they play with sounds, words, rhythms, and rhymes; and as they learn basic spelling and phonics patterns. This workshop uses video, online games and activities from Between the Lions and other PBS shows for preschoolers to model the fun ways parents, teachers, and caregivers can promote literacy. |
Sensational Science |
What do sorting and organization, cause and effect, whole and parts, quantity and size, structure and function, and change and diversity have in common? They are all concepts that preschoolers can explore and experience in fun and engaging ways! This workshop uses video and activities from a variety of PBS programs to model easy, creative ways parents, teachers, and caregivers can promote beginning math and science concepts.
