Gospel music energizes us and lifts our spirits on the wings of song. Join Prairie Public Television and the Minneapolis Community College Gospel Choir in this invigorating "Celebration of Hope". Recorded live at Concordia College during the height of the historic flood in the Red River Valley, this concert brought its message of hope and renewal to those beginning to recover from the disaster that touched so many people's lives.

The Event

Audience laughsIn the aftermath of the worst flooding disaster in the history of the prairie, Concordia College of Moorhead, MN hosted a special evening of uplifting entertainment in an effort to renew spirits and recognize the efforts of those who fought the flood. The college invited the community to celebrate an evening of hope for the future, as courageous residents of the Red River Valley prepared to rebuild this lives, their homes, and their communities. The Choir

Gospel Choir picThe Minneapolis Community Gospel Choir includes more than 50 vocalists with a wide ranging variety of backgrounds and musical experience. The choir performs nearly 60 concerts each year across the country and in June 1996, performed by invitation at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. The choir has produced three compact discs of their music.

A featured performer during the concert was choir director Robert Robinson, who began his gospel singing career as a child. Robinson, who is also a solo performer in great demand, tours annually with Lorie Line and her Pop Chamber Orchestra.

Celebration of Hope was nominated for a 1997 Heartland Regional Emmy.
