Leaving Home

Some businesses may grow and be successful remaining in a home-based situation. Others may outgrow a home base. If the business requires more production space for employees or equipment than can be provided at home, it may require the entrepreneur to move the business. If regulations require significant alterations to the home, it may be more cost effective to move to commercial space. If customer traffic is needed to increase sales, it may be important to move to where customers have easier access.

Careful planning and managing of the home-based business will enable the entrepreneur to monitor changes in the business and plan for a move if necessary. Some entrepreneurs find commercial space for warehousing or manufacturing but still keep the administrative office in their home.
