About Prairie Quilts
Quilt - kwilt, n.
[O.Fr. cuilte, coutre, coultre <Latin culcitra, culcita]
A cover or coverlet made by stitching one cloth over another with
some soft substance between; any thick or warm coverlet.
A quilt may be defined as a simple covering for a bed -- but from
earliest times women transformed these lowly blankets into vibrant
works of art. Prairie Quilts will showcase the work of contemporary
women from the area who express their artistic and creative impulses
through needle, thread, and fabric.
Hosted by quilting teacher Virginia Dambach, Prairie Quilts highlights
the finest work displayed in quilt shows in Grand Forks, Medora, and
Fargo this year. This season's ultimate show & tell will feature
works ranging across the entire quilting spectrum from traditional
to contemporary.
