Chips and Whetstones
by Dorothy Smith

LARGE VIEW | DETAIL

Sometimes quilts are influenced by fabrics. Dorothy Smith took inspiration from the Smithsonian Institution and reproduction fabrics from RJR's Smithsonian Collection to design this lovely quilt using Mariners Compass blocks. And look at the workmanship -- all those nice sharp points -- all those round center circles. All of the work -- the piecing and the quilting --- was done by hand.
