Snow Shadows
by Mary Chalmers
LARGE VIEW
| DETAIL

When you come right down it, this luscious quilt
by Mary Chalmers is the essence of quilting. No piecing, no appliqué,
just a single piece of white fabric and a whole lot of quilting. This
marvelous expression of the art of white work is her second original
design inspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. Notice
how she's used glistening rayon thread and the stuffed technique called
trapunto to add dimension and sparkle to this luxurious design.
