Steps You Can Take Toward Prospering

Just as our ancestors who settled the prairie needed to change and adapt to American life and farming, so, too, do today's farmers. We farmers and ranchers want similar things. We want to feed our families, have a nice place to raise our kids, and we love the land. But today many rural residents are barely surviving or they're having to take a job in town to make ends meet. Prospering invites you to take a new look at yourself and your property -- to look beyond the ordinary and find ways not only to survive, but to prosper.

Prairie Public Television's one-hour video, Prospering, depicted North Dakota farmers and ranchers who have found new ways to prosper on the land. This viewer's guide, which accompanies Prospering, contains information on how you, too, can prosper by listing resources, organizations and beginning steps to follow. Use this guide as you think about new ways you can diversify, put unused buildings or property use, add value to your farm or find clever ways to cut costs. Use this guide as you work toward prospering!
