Transportation affects
almost every aspect of our lives. Not only does it affect how we get
from one place to another, but it determines the price of the clothes
we wear, what food we have available to eat and, perhaps, how our
ancestors chose to come to this area. Rivers, Roads, Rails and Air
was prepared by Prairie Public Television and the North Dakota Department
of Transportation to show students how North Dakota's transportation
has changed throughout history and how North Dakota's history has
been tied to those changes.
Sections of the online
teaching guide
This
online teaching guide is a companion to the video and can be used
to stimulate classroom discussion or assignments regarding transportation
in North Dakota and at a national level. The video is broken into
four segments: early innovations in transportation, railroads, automobiles
and road building and airplanes. In-class viewing of the entire video
is not required, as each segment can be used in class on its own.
