An Evening With Larry Woiwode
Celebrating the rich literary tradition of books about North Dakota.

Larry Woiwode, poet laureate of the state of North Dakota and bestselling author, was selected as the featured author by Read North Dakota in 2007. In this hour-long television program broadcast on Prairie Public, Woiwode talked about his critically acclaimed memoir "What I Think I Did" which centered around the events of the year of the disastrous 1996 flood.

Associate poet laureate Rick Watson began the program by performing his song “Beyond the Bedroom Wall,” which is based on Woiwode’s novel of the same name. Woiwode later discussed his own return to North Dakota from New York City. Woiwode ascribed a strong importance to a sense of place not only in his own writing, but in the works of his favorite authors.

On October 1, 2007, Edutech and the partners of Read North Dakota hosted two high school videoconference events with writer Larry Woiwode. Over 300 students from Mandan, Bismarck, Fargo, and LaMoure participated in the interactive events facilitated by North Dakota associate poet laureate Rick Watson.
