Patrie's Raspberries on the Prairie

Patti and Loren Patrie first heard about growing Raspberries over ten years ago from a Canadian farmer who put his five kids through college on the income he made from growing Raspberries. That was the catalyst for Patti and Loren and today they sell Raspberry Jam and Raspberries all over the state. The operation has also been good for their three kids who've earned income for college by working on the farm. Daughter Anne, now 20, says "I've met a lot of interesting people over the years working with Raspberries and the income has helped me. The actual work itself is a little tough and not too exciting, but you do get a good tan". Each July and August during harvest, Patti has local workers come out and help pick the berries off the vines. Patti makes her jams in her own kitchen.
