Curt Stofferahn Bio

Curt Stofferahn is a rural sociologist and associate professor at the University of North Dakota. He grew up on a family farm in Sargent County, ND. He received his B.S. in sociology and political science from North Dakota State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in rural sociology from Iowa State University. Prior to coming to UND, he was employed with the North Dakota Economic Development Commission as an agricultural strategies coordinator. At UND he has been director of the Social Science Research Institute. As associate professor, he teaches rural, environmental and community sociology, social change, rural development, and sociology of the Great Plains. He has also directed the North Dakota Rural Life Poll at UND and at NDSU. Most recently, with Dr. Gary Goreham at NDSU, he has organized the Center for Rural Studies.
