One of the more entertaining segments of the documentary is our profile of the three best teams in Class B history. Three teams, according to the opinion of producers Matt Olien and David Meiers, are the best of class B. May-Port-C-G 1996 and 1997
LaMoure 1976
Casselton Central Cass 1968
The players and coaches for the three teams all seem to have strong opinions as to which is the bast team. Here are some of those quotes and opinions. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "I would definitely have to say ours was the greatest team. These kids could do things with basketballs and moves that we only dreamed of back in the 60s."
"I would like to think that we're right up there somewhere close to the top. But it's hard to compare teams from different eras."
"You don't find high school players with the attitudes we had. We wanted to go out and win every game."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . "So were we the best? Well we think so. This is probably our last shot at glory doing this interview. We're biased of course."
"The May-Port kids were very good I know that but I think we could have handled them. It would have been a heck of a game."
"I would rank us...number 1... You have to."
"We beat two undefeated teams in the state tournament by 24 and 25 points. So that's something we can brag about."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . "I think the toughness of our schedule beating Moorhead, White Bear Lake, Bemidji, and Thief River Falls would suggest that over time, we'd be considered one of the all time best teams."
"I'm just glad we don't have to play a May-Port team, NOW, in order to prove it."
"I have an opinion about this, if you want me to express it. I think May Port has a lot of forwards playing guard (grins) and they would have had trouble with us ... they wouldn't have wanted to play us (grinning)."
"I don't know if I want to touch that question with a ten foot pole. Obviously the physical inside play would have been interesting between Jerry [Pyle] and me and the big May-Port kids Andrew LeClair and Chuck Klabo."
