The History of North Dakota Class B Basketball

It seems that every year when Class B Basketball tournament time rolls around, small towns all over the prairie empty out so the town can cheer on the hometown team to a much hoped for victory. But the state Class B Basketball tournaments are about more than just sports. They are family trips, social events, and for some, rites of passage. Tournaments are for more than just the players. They are also for the cheerleaders, band members, teachers, parents, bus drivers, and chaperones.

Remember the bus sing-alongs? The sehnanigans in the bleachers? The pranks played on beloved coaches? Remember the harrowing trip you made to the tournament in a blizzard? The special someone you met at the hot dog stand? The last minute shot that saved the game?
