A Labor Of Love Matt Olien,
Producer
I think the funnest part of this project was when the project's associate producer, David Meiers, and I interviewed all of our subjects this past summer. Dave and I had met some of these guys over the years, but to get to know all of the greats was fun for us -- whether it was visiting with the great Henry Milkey at his Minot home or spending a memorable Saturday in Epping with the '77 starting five. And a quick note of praise for Dave. Although he attended a Class A school, Fargo North, he has always loved the "B" much more. His wealth of knowledge and commitment to this project has been a big help to me. I guess to me, Class B basketball is more than a game. It is the celebration of community, at the heart of rural life in North Dakota and in some cases the biggest thing that ever happens in these towns. What do you think of when you think of Epping or Hillsboro? We hope One Shining Moment rekindles memories or touches a place in your heart, and we hope you enjoy this documentary as much as we enjoyed making it. |
