Alcohol and drug abuse is a serious but not hopeless problem. The good news is that we can get help — but it's up to us to take those first important steps by asking for help for those we care about and for ourselves. On this website, you'll find information to help you to understand substance abuse.

About This Program
Prairie Public brought the issue of addiction to the forefront in our region with Call In About Addiction: Closer To Home.

During this live call-in program, viewers had an opportunity to voice their questions and concerns about the treatment of substance abuse in our region. Host Kathy Coyle and a panel of experts here in the Prairie Public studios answered questions and discussed the issues and policies that affect the fight against substance abuse.

The program examined topics of special importance in our region such as treatment options in rural areas, how communities can cope with wide-spread drinking among teenagers, and what steps families can take when someone they love is addicted to drugs or alcohol.

This live call-in program was presented in conjunction with the Moyers on Addiction: Close To Home series broadcast on PBS. More information on substance abuse is available on the Close To Home website sponsored by PBS Online
