Taiwan Pork Roast

4 - 5 pound butt pork roast

1 - tablespoon of grated ginger

2 - grated garlic cloves

2 - cups of water

1/4 - cup soy sauce

1 - small onion (cut in quarters)

2 - tablespoons of brown sugar

2 - anise stars

Mix ingredients in baking pan. Place meat in pan and baste with mixture. Bake at 275 degrees for 6-8 hours, turning meat every two hours. After meat is cooked, gravy makes excellent oriental sauce when thickened with corn starch.
