CLASS FOUR
- Assignment Directions
Create a navigation button in gif format.
- Open your
graphics program. Create an image that is 250 pixels wide and
20 pixels tall.
- Using the
color selector and paint bucket tools, fill the background with
the same maroon of the maple leaf motif of the Great Outdoors
logo (you may approximate if necessary). If your graphics program
supports it, add a 4 pixel wide beveled edge to the background.
- Add the label
with white text using the Arial typeface.
- Save in GIF
format.
Crop and resize
a digitized photograph and save as jpeg.
- Using your
graphics program, open the file titled goose.jpg
- Using the
cropping tool, cut out the extra space around the goose and its
reflection.
- Resize the
image to where its width is 250 pixels wide. Be careful that you
maintain the height to width aspect ratio so that the image does
not become distorted.
- Save in JPEG
format at a resolution as low as you feel you can use without
reducing the clarity of the original image.
Open the document
you created in the last lesson named safaris.htm and modify it so
that it replicates the page pictured above. It is recommended that
you use a WYSIWIG html editor but, if you choose, you could also
use an ASCII text editor and make the changes by hand.
- Open the
safaris.htm page and replace the text link in the bottom right
corner with the button you just created.
- Link the
back button to The Great Outdoors home page.
- Replace the
fawn photograph with the goose photograph you just modified.
- Save the
new version with the name safarisfall.htm
Create an image
map for the Twin Lakes Main Street navigation bar.
- Link the
left hand half of the image to the following URL:
http://www.twinlakes.com
- Link the
upper right hand quadrant to the following URL:
http://www.twinlakes.com/main/index.htm
- Link the
lower right hand quadrant to the following URL:
http://www.twinlakes.com/sportgoods
NOTE:
The appearance of the screen capture shown above is attained by
viewing the documents in a Netscape browser window that is 550 wide
on a Macintosh with a 800x600 screen resolution. Minor differences
in appearance of your assignment may occur due to platform and browser
differences. Do not be too concerned if your text lines do not wrap
exactly the same and your type appears a little larger than what
is shown.
