CLASS SEVEN
- Assignment Directions
The Great Outdoors
now has a four page web site: A home page, a page about photo safaris,
a page with a catalog order form, and a page about the business'
privacy policy.
The next step
to take is to develop a plan for The
Great Outdoors web site. Go back to the case study and review
the business' strategic plan.
- Draw up a
wish list of features that your customer would want to find on
The Great Outdoors web site.
- Add to your
wish list all the features you would like to think would be interesting
to you customers and bring them back to your site regularly. Here's
an example of an early draft of a wish list of features aimed
at decoy collectors. [blueprint]
- Now that
you have a wish list drawn up, identify the critical things you
need to include in the first phase of your web site's development.
Assign priorities to those which can be added at a later time.
Now that you
have our wish list developed, the next step is to develop a content
plan that shows all the pages you're going to build and how the
information is going to be organized.
Once you have
your plan together, it's time to develop a materials list. Inventory
material that already exists in the business: newsletters, brochures,
catalogs. Identify what material can be used on the web site and
what will need to be developed from scratch.
- To get you
started, here is a folder of material you can practice with.
Now the fun
part starts -- let the construction begin!!
