The Importance of Amenities

While wood burning fireplaces and kerosene lamps add to the ambience, a primitive toilet does not. Eco-tourists enjoy "roughing it" to get where they want to go, but at the end of the day, they expect private baths, central air, television with cable/satellite services, internet hookups and more.

While vacant farm houses and old Victorians in the middle of town can easily be adapted into bed and breakfasts, the budget should be large enough to meet customer needs and expectations for "all the comforts of home" at the end of the day.

"Once you get them here, there's a lot of unexpected surprises."
