What
is Eco Tourism
Eco Tourism efforts provide a full range of services including
-Transportation
-Food
-Lodging
-Guiding
and
Interpretation
that cause minimal damage to the biological and cultural environments
and promote a better understanding of the natural and cultural history
of an area or region.
Eco Tourism is also designed to meet the needs and aspirations of
the current generation without compromising our ability to meet the
needs and aspirations of future generations. When well conceived and
managed, eco-tourism is non-consumptive and leaves no "foot-print."
At its best, eco-tourism assures that tourism dollars are dedicated
to protecting natural resources.
Eco Tourism is different from "destination" tourism in that
it is based on active learning and continuing education. Indeed, while
taking you to a "place", eco tourism provides first hand,
experiential opportunities and requires active participation and engagement.
Typical eco-tourism activities include:
-Bird and wildlife watching
-Hiking
-Backpacking
-Nature study
-Photography
-Boating
-Biking
-Camping
-Picnicing
