About This Program Attention Deficit Disorder and the related Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) are the most commonly diagnosed behavioral disorders of childhood --it affects an estimated three to six percent of school-age children. Untreated, ADD/ADHD can lead to poor grades in school, behavior problems at home, and difficulty making and keeping friends. With new tools available, ADD/ADHD is being diagnosed more frequently and at much younger ages. But although more is known about this disorder than ever before, many parents and teachers still struggle with understanding ADD/ADHD and how to treat it. This Healthworks special examined how parents can help their children cope with ADD/ADHD and what can be done to safeguard their child's future. Attention Deficit Disorder aired live on Prairie Public Television, Thursday October 26 at 7:00 pm CT and featured phone calls from viewers.
