The number in women would undoubtedly be higher if they ad more opportunity: there are just two men over age 80 for every five women. Although it generally takes older people longer to get sexually aroused, most of them say they still find sex pleasurable. Estrogen pills or cream as well as lubricants can make sex more enjoyable for many older women; sildenafil (Viagra) can make sex possible for many men suffering from impotence. That drug is clearly a better option than injections, suppositories, pumps, or implants. However, men who take nitro-glycerine or other nitrates should avoid sildenafil, since the combination can make blood pressure plummet.
