Weathering The Change

For More Information

Although menopause - the change - has existed since Eve, women have only recently begun to talk about it - and researchers to study it. No longer the taboo subject is was just a generation ago, millions of America women - the baby boomers - are entering mid-life.

If you're facing this transition, you're bound to have questions, and those questions deserve answers. Those who have been through menopause say life only gets better. How? What can you expect? Is advance preparation recommended? How do you manage hot flashes and other symptoms? Should you take hormones?

Menopause defines a midlife transformation and transition. It is the culmination of a gradual biological process signaled by the end of menstrual periods, and the completion of reproductive years. While menopause provides freedom from contraceptive worries and unwanted pregnancies it also signals the onset of short-term symptoms and potential long-term health complications.
