Sneak Previews Renee Martin seems to have it all - a responsible job as a corrections officer, a family she loves, hobbies she enjoys. But there was a time when those achievements seemed beyond her grasp --since childhood Renee struggled with untreated depression. Ten years ago, Renee began a successful treatment program of medication and counseling that have made it possible to reach a measure of happiness that she once thought was beyond her. Depression is not a character flaw. It's not a personal weakness. If that were the case, this illness would have passed David Isaacson by. As a minister with two rural parishes and serving as chaplain at the veterans home, David would seem to have enough strength for two people. But it was not always enough to sustain him through dark days when depression overwhelmed him. For David, medical treatment has made it possible to celebrate his life and faith. Marleen Walth and her family have been rocked, not once but many times -- first by the recognition of her son's depression, by her unsuccessful struggle to prevent his suicide, and then by her daughter's diagnosis with depression. Her message to parents, to family, and to friends of someone with depression is to never give up.
