Darian Schaubert, MS

Darian Schaubert is project coordinator of the North Dakota Department of Health's Diabetes Control Project. The Diabetes Control Project studies the impact diabetes has on the medical system and seeks to find ways to reduce the rate of life- and health-related complications among people with diabetes. Darian is a Licensed Registered Dietitian and has been diabetic for the last 21 years.




Shirley Essary, RN

Shirley Essary is a Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator with Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, ND where she works with both newly diagnosed and long-term diabetics. She specializes in teaching people with diabetes how to understand and manage their illness.




James Brosseau, MD

James Brosseau is an internal medicine specialist practicing at the Grand Forks Clinic in Grand Forks, ND. A native North Dakotan, Dr. Brosseau first became interested in the rise of diabetes among Native Americans while working on a masters degree in epidimiology and furthered that interest during his years with the Indian Health Service. Currently in private practice, he specializes in treating patients with diabetes and studies the prevention of diabetes-related complications.
