About This Program

Anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders are serious illnesses - and the age at which children are developing eating disorders is getting younger and younger. The next Healthworks special Disordered Eating: When Food Takes Control will focus on that message. The program aired live Tuesday, April 20th at 7:00 pm on Prairie Public.

"These disorders are not just severe diets," according to Healthworks producer Kim Stenehjem. "There are extreme physical consequences associated with these illnesses." She says it is important that family and friends recognize the signs of an eating disorder and know about treatment options. "Most people with an eating disorder are in denial or just not coping with their illness. We want to reach the people around them - to let them know about the causes and treatments for eating disorders. And to and the question 'What can I do?'."
