Health Risks of
Binge Eating Disorder

In rare instances, binge eating can cause the stomach to rupture. People with binge eating disorder are usually overweight and are prone to the serious medical problems associated with obesity. Health risks associated with obesity caused by binge eating disorder include:

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Kidney disease and/or failure
  • Arthritis
  • Bone deterioration
  • Stroke
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Co-occurring psychiatric illnesses - especially depression
  • Alchol and drug abuse
  • Suicide
