About This
Program Kids Health examines how parents can
cope with common childhood illnesses and parenting
challenges. Host Doug Hamilton and pediatricians
Dr. Ron Miller of Meritcare Clinic and Dr. Linda Getz
Kleiman of Dakota Clinic answered viewer phone calls and
discussed the issues many Moms and Dads face: At what point
do behavior problems become medical problems? What can I do
before my child is born to assure a healthy infancy? What
are the latest treatments for viruses? When should I call a
doctor when my child is sick? When are antibiotics effective
and when are they not? Heathworks producer Kim Stenehjem, a
grandmother of two, remembers the frustration of caring for
her own children. "What with ear infections, croupy coughs,
toddler temper tantrums, and chicken pox, I wore out several
copies of Dr. Spock's book," she said. "I would have loved
this program - a chance to learn more about my kids' health,
to learn when to call the doctor, and when to rely on the
'chicken soup' type remedies." Kids' Health aired live on Thursday,
February 22nd at 7:00 pm and was rebroadcast on Sunday,
February 25th at 4:00 pm CT. Healthworks is made possible by a
grant from Dakota
Medical Foundation. Behind The
