Polish and Czech/Bohemian immigrants settled in Bowman County, western Montrail County, and in Eureka and McKinley townships. While some moved onto farms and a few descendants remain, many have left the area. The 1980 Census estimates that 8,116 people with Czech ancestry and 5,739 with Polish Ancestry lived remained in the state of North Dakota. |
