Keeping Heritage Alive
North Dakota has inherited rich cultural traditions from many lands.
Foods, music, dances, stories, folk wisdom, religious precepts, and superstitions
all contribute to the distinctive traditions that have been maintained,
preserved, and practiced across the generations. Many of these traditions,
particularly foodways, music and dance traditions are appreciated by a
wide variety of residents, regardless of ethnic background.
