Black-capped Chickadee (Parus atricapillus)

The black-capped Chickadee is a small bird that gets its name from the distinct call that it makes, "chick-a-dee-dee-dee." It has a black head and throat with a white chest and belly and a gray back. The black-capped chickadee eats insects and small seeds and lives in holes in rotting tree stumps and branches, as well as man-made bird boxes.
