Common Flicker (Calaptes auratus)

The Common Flicker is another type of woodpecker found along the Red River. The flicker feeds on ants on the ground as well as insects under the bark of trees, fruits, and berries. It has a long black beak, a brown back, a white rump, and a patch of red on its head.
