Wood Duck (Aix sponsa)

The Wood Duck is a brilliantly colored duck. It has a large head, short neck, and a long square tail. The males are much more colorful than the females, which are browner in comparison to the bright colors of the male. The boxes high up in trees along the river provide nesting homes for the wood ducks and their eggs.
