Winnipeg in Bloom
WINNIPEG IN BLOOM tours 24 gardens ranging in size from an acre on the
Assiniboine River to vest-pocket gardens on small West End lots. See gardens
from every area of Winnipegfrom St Boniface to St James; from North
Kildonan to Fort Garry.
Producer, writer and narrator George Siamandas explores the gardens and
the passions that drive these gardeners. A diverse lot, Winnipeg's ardent
gardeners have grown miracle paradises throughout the cityfrom formal
restrained designs to the casual cottage gardens that peek through picket
fences. Also included in WINNIPEG IN BLOOM is a tour of the English Gardens
and views of several commercial landscapes.
Filming of the documentary was graced by beautiful weather and gardens
at their peak. Filmed in high definition format, WINNIPEG IN BLOOM will
recall the brilliant colour of summer even on the gloomiest days.

Short Description:
With more than 100 frost free days, and clay laden prairie soils, the
passionate gardeners of Winnipeg manage to grow outstanding gardens.
Each New Year, the gardeners emerge like artists ready to recreate a fresh
canvas of delight and exultation. They paint with form and color,
turning rubble piles into sanctuaries.
WINNIPEG IN BLOOM is the story of these gardens of love and hope.
These joyful, colorful, abundant, natural landscapes are nurtured like
beloved children to produce what nature had never intended.
WINNIPEG IN BLOOM visits more than two dozen Winnipeg gardens to learn
how their owners brought them to life and beauty. What do these gardens
mean to their tenders? How did they develop their passion for what
has become North Americas most popular hobby and pastime?
Shot in high-definition television, WINNIPEG IN BLOOM shows Winnipeg gardens
at their best.
