A New Station in Devils Lake...
We have finally, after many years of trying, received permission from
the FCC to put a transmitter in Devils Lake. This will carry the progrmaming
of our statewide network. We hope to be on the air by Fall 2009.
Now we have to name it! Take a look at the suggestions,
make a comment:
KNDP, KNDV, KPPD, KHTO
KMGS, KCMW, KLDD, KRMF
KGUY, KMWK, KDAK, KMWN
KPPD, KNDP, KTAH
1. I have a suggestion: KTAH
My suggestion honors the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation, emphasizing the "tah"
in Dakotah
Cheers,
Traci Juhala - Bismarck
2. My suggestions:
KPPD - Prairie Public Devils (Lake)
KNDP - North Dakota Public (radio)
Britt
3. KDVL
John ZAk
4. All my clearly clever monikers were already taken but I submit: K-M-W-N
M-W-N represents the first, almost middle and last consonants of Minnewauken,
or spirit water, which is ever so much nicer than Devils Lake, ikke sant?
Judith Hammer
5. I suggest KDAK. It is catchy, easy to remember, and represents the state.
It lends itself well to catchy slogans on North Dakota. A catchy slogan
is important for a new station in a new market. Best of all--It is available!
This is great news for the Lake Region! Thanks, Misti Wuori (Devils Lake/Rolla,
North Dakota)
6. I am suggesting the call sign for the new station in the Devils Lake
area be
KMWK-the MWK be associated with Minnewaukan, the location of the new tower.
Jim Swanson
7. Hello,
How about KGUY? I was trying to think of three letter words and I finally
got one that wasn't used.
Josh Gessele
8. How about KRMF....Radio Minnewauken Flats...it isn't being used elsewhere.
Susie Anderson
9. Hello Bill,
I suggest you use KLDD. The letters stand for Lake Devils Digital.
Another sign that may be an option is KLKD (Lake Digital). Although it's
not available, the attached note implied that it may be able to be released:
Call Sign KLKD is not available.
KLKD is assigned to the U. S. Coast Guard.

Thank you, and good luck!

10. Hi Bill,
Public Radio was the gateway to a new, informed way of thinking. It is not
a stretch to say it changed the world in which I live. That's why I suggest
KCMW.
Have a great contest!
Jodi Klein
11. Hi Bill,
How about KMGS, as travel and coffee mugs (or MGS) from pledge drives are
a vital part of public radio. (KMUGS is already taken by the coast
guard...)
Justin Berry
12. KHTO
HTO for H2O for water--which there seems to be plenty around Devils Lake.
Mike Frank
13. Bill,
I have decided the call sign for the new station should be KUFF like in
uff da, that's how I felt after going thru all those call signs.
Steve Gunderson
14. KPPD Prairie Public - D for Devils Lake Basin or Public Paid (PPD)
15. Hi Bill-
This is such a fun contest. I think coming up with call letters will be
my new favourite past time. I couldn't help myself and came up with 2
that might work.
KNDP
KNDV
Whatever you choose, it's great to see an under-served area get better
reception.
