"Election Day"

Today is Election Day. This date in earlier years saw
some pretty big changes as a result of elections. In fact, it was on this
date in 1892 that North Dakotans voted for the first time in a presidential
election.
Republican Teddy Roosevelt became president on this date in 1904. In 1932,
Wild Bill Langer of the Non-Partisan League became the states
17th governor. (Coincidentally, he also died on this date, in 1959). Other
ND governors elected on this date were John Moses in 1938 and William
Guy in 1960 both Democrats.
On this day in 1932, prohibition was repealed by a vote of the people.
And, in 1960, pollsters voted to change the name of North Dakota Agricultural
College to North Dakota State University of Agriculture and Applied Science.
