Codi Austreim and the WILD Conference ~ Healthcare Insurance Marketplaces ~ Historic Garbage on the Red

posted on 08/27/2013

Tuesday, August 27 – The Women in Leadership Development conference will be held September 18 in Jamestown. One of the featured events is a panel discussion with women who became motivated to fill an unmet need in their community. Today we visit with one of those women, Codi Austreim, who co-chaired the “Keep Williston Clean” committee and helped establish a non-profit organization to welcome new residents to the area. ~~~ Beginning October 1st, many North Dakotans will have the opportunity to purchase health insurance from a federally facilitated health insurance marketplace. Joining us to discuss what this means for a rural state like North Dakota is Jon Bailey, director of rural research and analysis with the Center for Rural Affairs. ~~~ Ashley Thornberg takes us down to the Red River to discuss prohibition-era artifacts with Mark Peihl, archivist with the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County. ~~~ Chuck Lura has this week’s Natural North Dakota essay, Cattle Egrets.
