Elder Abuse ~ Summer Safety Tips ~ Native Grasses

posted on 06/25/2013

Tuesday, June 25 – World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was June 15, and events surrounding that topic have been ongoing, with a number of events in the region, including a summit tomorrow in Moorhead that will feature Skip Humphrey, who heads the Office of Older Americans for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Joining us to discuss elder abuse are Shelly Carlson, elder abuse project coordinator (Clay and Cass Counties), and Lori Conroy, assistant Clay County attorney. ~~~ In today’s Natural North Dakota essay, Chuck Lura discusses the wide variety of native grasses found in the state. ~~~ Safe Kids Grand Forks was honored as Outstanding Coalition of the Year last week at the Safe Kids Worldwide Injury Prevention Conference in Washington DC. Joining us with that story, and with some timely summer safety reminders is the coordinator of the program, Carma Hanson. ~~~ We also visit with Aaron Krauter, state executive director for the Farm Service Agency, on the prevented planting outlook for North Dakota.
