Diana Read, ND Department of Health ~ Pop Wagner, Cowboy Performer

posted on 08/13/2013

Tuesday, August 13 –  Diana Read, North Dakota Department of Health, Division of Injury Prevention and Control, stops by to talk about Senior Falls Prevention activities happening in the state in September, plus the growing epidemic of prescription painkiller overdoses.~~~ Bruce Berg joins us with a reflection on the plight of new teachers in his essay, “Three of Five.” ~~~ Chuck Lura has this week’s Natural North Dakota essay, “Curlycup Gumweed.” ~~~ Pop Wagner has quite the reputation as a singer, picker, fiddler, lasso twirler, poet and downright funny guy. He appeared quite frequently on Public Radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion” during the show’s formative years. He’s making a few stops in North Dakota this week, and today he joins us by phone from Linton, where he’s teaching mohair cinch making as part of a Traditional Arts Apprenticeship funded by the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
