401e Energy Services ~ Photographer Sarah Christianson ~ A Fresh Start in the Oil Patch ~ Ron Smith

  Monday, October 14 – 401(e) Energy Services is a unique enterprise in Grand Forks that promotes energy conservation while also supporting social and environmental causes. Here to explain is Jason Schaefer, coordinator for the service. ~~~ Norwegian-American fine art photographer Sarah Christianson grew up on a North Dakota Farm. She explores that family heritage in her first book, “Homeplace.” The book launched last week at Hostfest. Sarah now lives in San Francisco, but she’ll be back often – her next project is to document the state’s oil boom. ~~~ A Black Gold Boom report from Todd Melby, profiling a gal finding a fresh start in the oil patch. ~~~ Tom Isern has this week’s Plains Folk essay, “Rooted in the Soil.” ~~~ Horticulturist Ron Smith drops to answer recent yard and garden questions.
