Thursday, December 1 – A recording has come to light of a September 2014 meeting between representatives of Energy Transfer Partners and the Standing Rock Tribal Council. It appears to contradict statements claiming the tribe had not registered their concerns previous to the current protest over the Dakota Access Pipeline. In this clip we hear from former tribal council member Phyllis Young. Listen to the entire recording HERE. ~~~ In Sunday’s New York Times, writer and critic David Treuer wrote that the protestors are taking a stand for all Americans. He is an Ojibwe who grew up on the Leech Lake reservation in northern Minnesota, and is the author of Rez Life, An Indian’s Journey Through Reservation Life. He visits with David Sommerstein in this piece from North Country Public radio. ~~~ Another story on serving in the military from Project Unpack. Today we hear from the Doug Owens, whose son Damon is an officer in the army. ~~~ Chef Rosey joins us with a discussion of salt. ~~~ Doug and Christine McClellan have our What’s Happening calendar of events.
